The Business Case for EQ Based Leadership Training

Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been proven over multiple decades to be the distinguishing factor of great leaders. EI can be defined as a set of emotional and social skills that influence how we perceive and express ourselves, build relationships, cope with challenges, make decisions and manage stress. All of these aspects are critical components of effective leadership. As opposed to IQ, EI can be developed and improved with training and coaching.   The business case for investing in your leadership team’s emotional intelligence is clear. 

  • EQ is scientifically shown to be more important than IQ in determining career success. This is because regardless of how intelligent we may be, if we turn others off with our behavior, are unaware of how we present ourselves or how we handle stressful situations, our intellect won’t matter.

Why is this leadership development program different?

Traditional leadership programs fall short because they are typically not tied to your mission, culture or strategy. This leadership program begins with your mission and strategy and will be designed to support your organization’s desired culture.  The facilitator for this series is a seasoned business executive, strategist and executive coach. 

PROGRAM DESIGN IS TAILORED TO SUPPORT YOUR STRATEGY

The Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Series includes six program modules, breakout groups, and case studies between sessions where indicated. Goal setting, cross-functional team building exercises and issue analysis sessions can also be incorporated. The final design of the program would follow a discovery meeting with the engagement sponsor. This program can be run virtually or in-person.  One-on-one individual executive coaching can also be incorporated  as indicated. 


Sample program themes include:

  • EQ over IQ. Participants will receive an EQ-i 2.0 assessment and group debrief. 
  • Principles of conscious leadership. 
  • Change management, leading with a growth mindset and establishing an agile culture.
  • Decision making and building high-performing teams within and across functions.
  • Communication styles, managing conflict and creating a high-performing meeting culture. 
  • Leader as Coach, talent engagement and organizational effectiveness.  
  • Stress management, wellness and well-being. 


Team coaching workshops designed around business issues , as well as one-on-one executive coaching, is available to supplement this leadership series.

Team Coaching helps create high-performing teams.

Once established, the team works through business issues and challenges with the support of an experienced business and executive team coach. Team coaching focuses on improving team dynamics, goal setting and attainment, as well as how each team fits into the larger context of organizational effectiveness.   


Team coaching can be used on its own or to supplement The Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Series. Team coaching can also be integrated with individual executive coaching to maximize its impact.
